Australia, Indonesia, PNG and Fiji all have significant blue carbon holdings and bring unique perspectives to the management of these ecosystems. During this event, officials from these countries will come together to share lessons learned on developing sustainable blue carbon policy actions. They will share examples from their countries and discuss innovation and on ground action in this space.
Australia is currently implementing two blue carbon programs; one with Indonesia and one with the Pacific, focused on PNG and Fiji. Under these programs we have worked with regional experts to develop two products that will support enhanced management of blue carbon ecosystems. The first is an inventory advice document that provides practical guidance on how to implement the IPCC Wetlands Supplement. The second is a blue carbon policy training course. These products will be officially launched and showcased as part of this event.
Lets join our event to support COP26 which is the world’s largest climate-related conference, to implement the World Climate Commitment Agreement.
